‘Kon Hoeel Marathi Crorepati’ on ETV Marathi show details with photos

ETV Marathi has announced it will premiere “Kon Hoeel Marathi Crorepati”, produced by Big Synergy, on 6 May.

The show will be presented by New Fair & Lovely and powered by Idea.

It will air Monday to Thursday at 9.00 pm.

As reported earlier, the Marathi version of ‘Kaun Banega Crorepati’ will be hosted by Sachin Khedekar.

Archana Joglekar is an Indian actress and classical dancer who has appeared in numerous Marathi and Hindi films and television serials. Some of her noted films are ‘Sansaar’ (Hindi), ‘Eka Peksha Ek’ (Marathi) and ‘Anapekshit’ (Marathi). She is a renowned Kathak dancer and choreographer. She has learned Kathak from her mother Smt. Asha Joglekar, who is also a noted Kathak danseuse and instructor. In 1963, her mother founded a dance school in Mumbai called Archana Nrityalaya. In 1999, Archana opened a branch of this dance school in New Jersey, US.
Archana started her acting career with a movie in Oriya Cinema named Suna Chadhei and since then has acted in many other movies in Marathi film industry. She has also appeared in many television advertisements.

In November 1997, Archana had come to the city of Bhubaneswar, Orissa for a film shooting and was attacked by a person named Bhubanananda panda in her guest house room. The accused was charged of attempting to rape and molest Archana. Though the accused was arrested on December 1, 1997, yet the court took nine years to find him guilty and finally sentenced him for rigorous imprisonment of eighteen months in 2010.

Meanwhile, Archana got married and migrated to the US, where she opened a branch of her dance institute, Archana Nrityalaya in New Jersey

Ram Gopal Varma used Girish Oak's voice for Satya 2 without his consent

Just the other day, Ram Gopal Varma incurred the wrath of a Bombay High Court Judge for refusing to return the money he owes Reliance Media Works (RMW) Ltd. And now, the filmmaker has had to tender a written apology to senior Marathi actor, Dr Girish Oak, for allegedly using his voice for the promos of ‘Satya 2′ without his consent. And it wasn’t before the Shiv Sena Chitrapat Sena (film unit of the Shiv Sena) helmed by another Marathi actor, Adesh Bandekar, intervened, and threatened Varma with dire consequences,that the director relented.

This is how it all panned out. After announcing the sequel to his 1998 blockbuster Satya, Varma called several actors for an audition, asking them to deliver some of the dialogues from his upcoming film. Dr Oak was one of them, and returned after his voice audition, hopeful he would get a call from Varma’s production house. Apparently, in the meantime, Varma used Dr Oak’s voice sample for promos of the sequel, which he uploaded on You Tube, and even some trailers of the film, without informing the actor of his actions.

When Dr Oak found out about the videos, he called up Varma’s office, only to get no reply. The actor recalled his experience saying, “I just called to ask them how they could use my voice without my consent, but they didn’t reply. They treated me shabbily and I was very hurt and upset.” However, things are very different now, according to Dr Oak. “Varma is now offering me money and credit for my voice. But I don’t want money for it. I want my dignity back,” he said.

When Bandekar (President of the Shiv Sena Chitrapat Sena) heard about the incident, he tried to get in touch with Varma but wasn’t successful. He again visited Varma’s office, this time with Dr Oak and members of the Chitrapat Sena in tow, but Varma left his office without meeting them. Ultimately, they told Varma he wouldn’t be allowed to shoot in Maharashtra if he didn’t make amends. Bandekar even appealed the filmmaker to tender an apology to such a senior actor as Dr Oak. “At the time, Varma was ready to pay Dr Oak, but we insisted on a written apology and finally, he submitted it on his company (Dreamforce Enterprises) letter head to Dr Oak,” said Bandekar.

Aamir Khan on Time’s 100 Most Influential People list

“The Time 100 issue represents our choices for the 100 most influential people in the world. It’s our 10th year doing it, and the cover always presents a special challenge,” the magazine wrote in its editorial about the Time 100 issue.

While the magazine has, in some of its past Time 100 editions, put “a postage-stamp-size picture” of all the 100 influencers on the cover, the magazine says it is “trying something new” this year, with “seven cover portraits of Time 100 honorees who reflect the breadth and depth of our list, each one profiled inside – as is our tradition – by an equally luminary voice”.

Aamir Khan is profiled by an equally well-known Indian star, composer A.R. Rahman, who paints a rather compelling image of the actor, praising him for using his influence to raise social awareness in India.

“In a world of false diplomacy and evasiveness, Aamir is a straightforward man. A man of his word. His movies are commercial successes — ‘Lagaan’ was nominated for an Academy Award — but they also display a sense of social responsibility: they tackle important themes, like poverty and education,” pens Rahman.

The other personalities on the seven covers are the Pakistani schoolgirl Malala Yousafzai (profiled by Chelsea Clinton); hip-hop-artist-turned-entrepreneur Jay Z (by Michael Bloomberg); Hollywood actress Jennifer Lawrence (by Jodie Foster); first-term Kentucky Senator Rand Paul (by Sarah Palin); inventor-entrepreneur Elon Musk (by Richard Branson); and Chinese tennis star Li Na (by Chris Evert).

The magazine segments its top 100 influencers into five sections: Titans, Leaders, Artists, Pioneers, and Icons. Interestingly, Khan features not for being an artist, but as a Pioneer. Another Indian that features among the ‘pioneers’ is Vrinda Grover, human-rights lawyer and an advocate of women’s rights.

India’s finance minister Palaniappan Chidambaram, on the other hand, makes an entry as a Titan, whom Ruchir Sharma, head of emerging markets at Morgan Stanley, describes as “a fish out of water” for being an uncharacteristic Indian politician.

“Indian politicians are warm and fuzzy, chronically late and terribly imprecise. Chidambaram is detail-oriented, works from 8 to 8 and has a reputation for getting a lot done, but with an arrogance that rubs many the wrong way, perhaps too many to unite the weak coalition government likely to emerge from next year’s election,” writes Sharma.

Akshay Kumar To Make Film On Dada Kondke

The Khiladi of Bollywood, who has ventured in producing regional cinema, is now also exploring Marathi literature, it seems.

Sources claim that Akshay Kumar has acquired the rights to the biography of legendary Marathi actor Dada Kondke (who was famous for his double entrende jokes and suggestive film titles) for the purpose of making a movie on it. The biography titled Ekta Jeev had been written by Anita Padhye many years back and the author had claimed that despite his sense of humor and ready wit on the silver screen, Dada was not happy in real life. Akshay will reportedly make an official announcement about the project soon.

Akshay will be next seen playing the role of a good-hearted goon in Boss, which is the official remake of Pokkiri Raja.
